Listen At Lunch

Exhibition Date:
25 Sep 2009
Venue:
Northern Stage

Threshold Theatre has commissioned two new short plays by local women writers in response to Githa Sowerby’s Rutherford & Son.

The Investment by Carina Rodney
In a shifting social landscape where class aspirations have been replaced by a hunger for the social mobility that being a celebrity offers, Gina Baker faces a difficult decision.  Caught between the aspirations of her determined mother and her own artistic ambitions, Gina has hard decisions to make about her future, meanwhile Carla is prepared to go to extreme lengths to protect her ‘investment’.

Bumps by Bridget Deane
Amber’s fifteen and pregnant, a walking, talking, foul-mouthed government statistic.  But Amber’s got a secret: she’s not planning on keeping her baby.  Comic, and poignant, Bumps is the story of Amber and her antenatal class as they prepare for the greatest experience of their lives… Or is it?
Bumps may contain strong language and themes of an adult nature.

Lunch starts at 1pm, play starts at 1.15pm
If ordering lunch, you must order before 5pm on the day before the performance.

Cost: £7 including lunch, £3 reading only
